FINDINGS - subjective observations in public spaces by Annika B. Lewis FINDINGS is a research project about bodies, movement structures and human strategies in selected public spaces and hot spots in Washington DC and New York City. This first phase is the initial part of the research - and the project will finally culminate in a new performance work, planned to 2013. During my fieldwork and observations, I will research and develop different material about and around the themes; power – despair and freedom – control. What is the physical and mental state of the habitants, in the power ‘metropoles’; Washington DC and New York City? What signifies the people living and populating these places? How does the “beings” in different physical and mental presences, appear in different selected public spaces? How does our modern ”gadgets” affect our lives? What happens to our bodies when we are always ”hocked up”? How does the themes power – despair and freedom – control, manifests itself in the public space? These questions are the main drive in this project and the plan is to find some choreographic “principals” and artistic material, presented as a work-in-progress performance lecture. www.annikalewis.dk/english/ |
